“Between 5 and 10 cm”, a new episode of snow announced in the Oise: here are the forecasts

The start of the year 2025 is synonymous with snow in the Oise! After a first snowy episode last weekend, it could make its return to the department, the Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 January 2025.

Forecasters agree that flakes should fall again in Hauts-de-France, and particularly in Oise, from Wednesday.

Yellow warning, 5 to 10 cm of snow expected

“From midday, in contact with the cold air present in the north, precipitation will be in the form of snow from Upper Normandy to Hauts-de-France,” announces Weather Francewhich placed the Oise in yellow vigilance for snow and ice on January 8.

“A layer of snow on the ground of 5 to 10 cm is entirely plausible in these regions, especially from Seine-Maritime to Picardy.”

“Concretely, there will be snow on the plains on a line going from Évreux (Eure) to Beauvais (Oise) and Charleville-Mézières (Ardennes),” assures Guillaume Séchet, meteorologist and founder of the site Météo-villles.com, actu.fr.

And ” between 5 and 10 cm » are well considered locally according to specialists, the snow should however be more persistent in the Somme than in the Oise.

Rain and snow Thursday

Snowflakes could also fall on Thursday. At this time, Météo France forecasts rain mixed with snow for Thursday January 9, over a large north-western part of the Oise, in particular from Clermont to Songeons, via Beauvais and Méru, but also in Noyon.

School and intercity transport stopped on Wednesday

Faced with these forecasts, the Hauts-de-France Region decided to cancel school transport traffic on Wednesday.

“A very unfavorable weather alert which reached us at 5 p.m., announcing snow and ice tomorrow afternoon, leads us to suspend all school and intercity transport tomorrow, in the 5 departments of the Hauts-de-France region,” announces Christophe Coulon, vice-president in charge of mobility.
