The government of Pedro Sánchez approved an envelope of 2.5 million euros intended for the acquisition of vehicles and equipment: 183 motorcycles with a total value of 660,000 euros, intended for patrol operations in difficult areas access and 33 buggies, for an amount of 1.9 million euros, for enhanced mobility in desert and rugged environments, report Spanish media. Delivery is expected within a maximum period of nine months. Once delivered, the vehicles will be transported to the port of Tanger Med. In addition, specialized technical training will be given on vehicle maintenance in order to guarantee the maintenance and operational durability of the equipment provided.

This action is part of a European project for integrated border and migration management in Morocco, coordinated by the International and Iberoamerican Foundation for Administration and Public Policies (FIIAPP), led by the Minister of Affairs foreign countries, José Manuel Albares. It aims to “reduce vulnerabilities linked to irregular migration” and “strengthen border control and surveillance capacities” by adopting an approach described as humanist, aligned with the Moroccan National Immigration and Asylum Strategy ( SNIA), informs the Spanish government.
