Home appliance manufacturer Roborock proves that it is still possible to innovate in the field of robot vacuum cleaners. On the eve of Tuesday’s opening of CES, the famous consumer tech show in Las Vegas, the Chinese brand presented a model with a new functionality. Called Roborock Saros Z70, the device is equipped with a five-axis articulated arm called Omnigrip. Folded into the vacuum cleaner housing, this arm is capable of picking up small objects likely to obstruct its path.

However, this innovation has some limitations. The object to be picked up cannot exceed 300 g and must belong to a list, currently restricted (socks, handkerchiefs, towels and slippers), which the manufacturer promises to expand. Another downside: the articulated arm is relatively slow. According to The Verge, which attended a demo, the robot would take about a minute to pick up a sock. The collected objects can then be dropped off at a location chosen by the user using the Roborock application. The firm indicates that this feature is disabled by default and can be activated manually.

This device, the price of which is not yet known, should be marketed from at least June 2025.
