The year 2024 will have been particularly hot in the region, with the average temperature being 2.3 degrees Celsius above normal in Saguenay and 2.4 degrees in Lac-Saint-Jean.

This is what emerges from a compilation made from Environment Canada meteorological data from the stations at the Bagotville base and the Roberval airport.

Thus, the average temperature rose to 5.5 degrees in Saguenay in 2024, while the climatic normal, calculated based on the years 1991 to 2020, is 3.2 degrees. For Roberval, the average was 5.3 degrees, compared to a normal of 2.9 degrees.

The average temperature was above normal for all 12 months of the year in the region. January was the hottest with a difference of 4 degrees in Saguenay and 4.2 degrees in Lac-Saint-Jean, while in August the difference was the least marked with 0.7 degrees and 0 .8 degrees above normal.

An exceptional mild spell hit the region at the end of 2024.

As for precipitation, it was 150 millimeters below normal in Saguenay, or 778 mm in 2024 compared to a normal of 928. June was the rainiest month at the Bagotville station with a total of 130 mm of rain.
