DECRYPTION – Samsung and TCL have unveiled products that can move around consumers’ homes and accomplish a range of tasks. LG, for its part, is banking on an AI-enabled butler who orchestrates the connected objects in the home and gives personalized advice to family members.

Will the households add new members? For nearly a decade, the connected home has been considered the next frontier for electronics manufacturers. Innovation has long been limited to the creation of objects that are more connected to each other, controllable remotely, giving measurements or, like connected speakers, capable of delivering certain basic information. In the wake of advances in AI, the future of the sector seems to belong to companion robots and other virtual agents.

In any case, this is the future that is taking shape at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, with very similar announcements…
