The cement sector in Morocco closes 2024 with growth momentum

The cement sector in Morocco ended the year 2024 on a positive note, marked by a clear increase in deliveries, thus offering encouraging prospects for professionals.

According to a report from the Ministry of National Territorial Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and City Policy, consulted by H24Info, 1,292,743 tonnes of cement were delivered in December 2024. This volume represents an increase of 15.19% compared to the same period in 2023. Over the whole year, cumulative sales amount to 13,692,752 tonnes, recording a growth of 9.45% compared to the 12,510,825 tonnes delivered in 2023, according to data from the Professional Association of Cement Makers of Morocco (APC).

This recovery marks the end of a long period of stagnation for the sector. David Toledano, president of the Construction Materials Federation (FMC), expresses his optimism: “We are ending the year with good prospects, in particular thanks to these results in cement, which confirm our forecasts for the sector,” declares he.

This recovery is attributed to several factors. First of all, the relaunch of the social housing program, in particular through the Dâam Sakane initiative, launched at the beginning of 2023, has boosted real estate. At the same time, infrastructure projects linked to the sporting deadlines of 2025 and 2030 have also stimulated demand for cement.

Unexpectedly, the weather conditions also contributed to this performance. The absence of significant rains allowed the uninterrupted continuation of construction sites, thus reinforcing the growth dynamic.

For 2025, professionals hope to maintain this trend. “We hope that this progression will continue, allowing the sector to compensate for years of stagnation,” adds David Toledano.

With sustained investments in infrastructure and growing real estate demand, the coming year looks promising for the cement sector in Morocco. Players in the sector intend to capitalize on these achievements to consolidate their position and support national economic dynamics.
