Standard de Liège announced the signing of defensive midfielder Ibrahim Karamoko on Monday. The 23-year-old Frenchman arrives from FC Versailles, in the French third division. He has signed up for three and a half years, with an option for an additional season, the Liège club said on its website.
This season, the midfielder has played 12 National matches, scoring 2 goals. He mainly played as a central defender at Versailles.
Trained in Lille, Karamoko also spent time with Chievo Verone between 2017 and 2020 then with Torino, who loaned him to Virton during the 2021-2022 season. He had played 13 Challenger Pro League matches with the Gaumais. After his return to Turin, he was sold to Guingamp, before arriving at Versailles in the summer of 2023.
Karamoko, 1.90m tall, is the first transfer made official by Standard during this winter transfer window. The specialized site Transfermarkt speaks of an amount of 150,000 euros for the transfer of the Franco-Ivorian.
