A new law on the regulation of advertising in Senegal will soon be submitted for examination by the National Assembly, announced this Friday the Minister of Communication, Telecommunications and Digital Affairs, Alioune Sall.
This initiative is part of a process to modernize the legislative framework in terms of communication and digital technology. According to the supervisory authority, this reform aims to “make necessary corrections to an existing law, now outdated by technological advances”.
The minister also highlighted a key measure of this new regulation: the recognition and payment of remuneration for digital content creators. Alioune Sall stressed that this provision will concern users of platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, and other social networks.
This bill marks an important step in the adaptation of the Senegalese legislative framework to the digital age, while promoting economic players in the sector. By taking content creators into account, it is also about encouraging innovation and strengthening equity in the emerging digital economy.
