The lifeless body of Justine Roche, a 24-year-old student, was discovered last Sunday in an agricultural pond in La Roche-Baraton, in the town of Beaupréau in Mauges.
From Sunday, investigators favored the accident trail.
The body of a fox having also been found in this basin, the Angers public prosecutor put forward the hypothesis on Sunday afternoon according to which Justine may have wanted to come to the aid of her dog attacked by this fox.
“There are no traces of third party intervention, explained Eric Bouillard, the public prosecutor of Angers, to Ouest-France. We’re looking at someone who voluntarily goes into the water, takes off their clothes, ties one end and the dog’s leash so they can get back up.”
The body of the little Jack Russell that Justine was walking was also found in the agricultural pond located a few hundred meters from the family farm.
