Swiss drivers remain unconditional fans of the German automobile brand Volkswagen, as well as premium manufacturers from across the Rhine, which represent the largest share of new car registrations in 2024.
The general brand Volkswagen remains at the top of the podium with a market share of 10% last year, and despite a decline of 1.2 percentage points compared to 2023, according to statistics from auto-suisse published on Friday.
The Bavarian manufacturer BMW comes in second place with a share of 9.1% among new registrations in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, up 0.7 points compared to the previous year.
In third place on the podium of favorite brands comes the Czech manufacturer Skoda, which also belongs to the Volkswagen empire. The automobile brand, known for its advantageous prices, increased its market share by 0.4 points to 8.8%.
The bottom of the ranking is occupied by the French manufacturer DS Automobiles, owned by the Stellantis group, which only reaches 0.1% market share, after 0.3% in 2023.
