This Sunday, January 5, 500 runners will set off on the Beille plateau to participate in the “Trail Blanc”, a new race initiated by the Tarasconnais association VO2 max. This event, which will be in its first edition, offers participants the opportunity to start the year in a sporting and original way.

With 500 participants, registrations have been closed for more than a month. A success that Julien Augé, president of the association, attributes to “the reputation of the estate and its exceptional setting”.
“Other sporting events take place on the Beille plateau, such as the La Beilloise ski race or a snowshoe race, but this is the first edition of the “Trail Blanc” organized by VO2 Max. Throughout the Pyrenees chain, from the Pyrénées Atlantiques to the Pyrénées Orientales, few trails of this type exist. There are only two or three, including La Romeufontaine, very famous, which will be held within a fortnight. »

The Ariège Pyrenees now have their own white trail, with two routes departing from the ski resort: a 10 km route with a 350 m difference in altitude and another of 20 km with a 500 m difference in altitude. “The event takes place at an altitude of 1800 m, where the climatic conditions can increase the difficulty, particularly because of snow, cold and ice. It is recommended to add crampons or spikes to trail shoes for added safety. »
The collection of bibs takes place today from 4 p.m. at Décathlon in Foix. Race starts will take place at 9:30 a.m. for the 20 km and at 10 a.m. for the 10 km.
