Squid Game comes to Black Ops 6 for the release of season 2 of the Netflix phenomenon series. For this event, Treyarch thought big with the release of new battle passes, skins, weapon blueprints, as well as new game modes.
Squid Game arrives in BO6
This is one of the major events of the end of the year: season two of Squid Game has finally been released after more than three years of waiting. For the occasion, Treyarch and Activision have decided to partner with Netflix in order to offer players Call of Duty : Black Ops 6 a plethora of content from the South Korean series.
First of all, all players will have access to a first completely free battle pass, which will notably allow them to unlock two operator skins, “player 006” and “player 115”. This pass also includes some stickers, emblems, double xp tokens, but also and above all a new melee weapon, the cleaver.
Additionally, there is a second paid battle pass, worth 1100 COD points. This pass is mainly dedicated to the “front man”, Squid Game’s main henchman, who wears a black mask and a long coat. We therefore logically find a skin for this character, as well as weapon plans, emotes and other cosmetics.
New game modes and new paid bundles
Still on the in-game store side, Treyarch has put together three new bundles in order to acquire more customization content. There are three: the rose guard pack, the VIPs pack and the Young-hee pack, the giant doll from the game one, two, three, sunshine of the series. Each of these bundles unlocks associated character skins, as well as themed cosmetics, emotes, and weapon blueprints.
Finally, and this is certainly the most interesting, new temporary game modes will be available. The most original being the “Red Light, Green Light” multiplayer mode which allows you to participate in a gigantic one, two, three, deadly sun similar to that of the series, with some specificities specific to BO6. Here, players will take part in three two-minute rounds. The first round remains simple, just reach Young-hee first. But during the other two rounds, players will be able to collect weapons and eliminate other participants when the terrible doll has his back turned.
Moreover, Treyarch announced the launch of variants called “Piggy Bank” and “Roulette”. The first is a team deathmatch game during which each elimination adds up to a gigantic prize pool. The team that gets their hands on this prize pool wins the game. In roulette mode, players will be able to use a special handgun that allows you to double points with each elimination. The risk being that with any shot fired, the weapon will explode in your hands.
There is also a new variant of Moshpit mode bringing together MME, Domination and Hardpoint modes Piggy Bank and Roulette version in which players will also be able to use a scorestreak called “Red Light” which summons opposing players to stop moving, otherwise to die instantly. And if all of these new features mainly concern the multiplayer of BO6, Warzone is not left out. Thus, players will be able to play on the Urzikstan map. But this time, the worst team in the game will be automatically eliminated after a certain time. What’s more, some challenges will launch a wave of “Red Light, Green Light”. The Squid Game event is already active and will end on January 24.
