Major projects, new developments, remarkable anniversaries… The year 2024 was particularly intense for the municipality.

The laying of the symbolic first stone of the future fire station on January 27 started the year with a bang for Plaisance and the 14 communities served by the rescue center, after years of waiting and negotiations that began in 2017. .

In April, it was the turn of major works on the Arros bridge and the eastern entrance to the city, via the RD 946, in order to reduce speed, protect pedestrians and make the health center accessible. Work continues with the repair of the roofs of the church, the municipal workshops and the current barracks. To reduce the energy bill, 45 new street lights as well as the lighting in the multipurpose room have switched to LED.

New things

On February 20, 2024, the intercommunal crèche (first in Gers to be labeled “eco-crèche) was inaugurated on rue Armagnac, allowing toddlers from 3 months to 4 years to be accommodated.

In April, the European Crafts Days took place for the first time in Plaisance, on the theme “Wood and music” with a concert and a circuit of meetings with creators, craftsmen and musicians.

In September, the Plaisantins discovered a system of access to the recycling center with personal cards to enter the Sictom Ouest site, with the aim of limiting contributions from outside the territory. The first Salon des Aidants attracted a large audience on October 12 and, since November, the new intergenerational games library set up in the old crèche has welcomed players from the Renaissance Club and the multi-cultural association.

On the health side, we note the arrival of a dentist and two private doctors. A restaurant also opened on rue Laterrade in April 2024, La Petite Toquée, offering traditional and Creole cuisine thanks to Sophie Thieule.

Birthdays

The Salon des Métiers d' celebrated its 30th anniversary in May, with the presentation of the city medal to Marie-Jo Chauvin and Alain Lagors in recognition of their commitment to serving art and history. . On October 29, Cinema l'Europe celebrated the 40th anniversary of its very first screening, bringing together the current team, volunteers and activists from the start.
