Sister Inah Canabarro, a 116-year-old Brazilian nun, is now the oldest of humanity. A fan of Football and her hometown club, she was honored by Pope Francis six years ago.
She was born on June 8, 1908, in southern Brazil. 116 years later, Inah Canabarro became the new dean of humanity after the death of Japanese Tomiko Itooka last December. It was the Longeviquest organization, a global authority which identifies the oldest people on the planet, which announced it on its Instagram account, with a supporting photo of Inah Canabarro, sitting in a wheelchair.

When she was born in São Francisco de Assis, doctors and others did not think she would live past fifteen years on earth because she was so thin. Finally, twenty years later, she became a nun in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, for two years.

Then she returned to Brazil, teaching mathematics and Portuguese in Rio. On her 110th birthday, Sister Inah Canabarro received honors from Pope Francis. In world history, she is the second oldest nun ever recorded, behind the Frenchwoman Lucile Randon, who was the dean of humanity before dying at the age of 118.
