Bargain enthusiasts can go there now! THE winter sales 2025 will be officially held from Wednesday January 8 to Tuesday February 4 in mainland France. However, certain departments, such as the Meuse, have taken a head start by starting from January 2. Why this one week advance?
Fierce competition
The answer is simple and strategic: border competition. As reported by La Voix de la Haute-Marne, in Lorraine, a region bordering Luxembourg and Belgium, the sales follow a specific calendar to compete with these neighbors, where promotions start from the first days of January. Result: the departments of Meuse, Moselle, Meurthe-et-Moselle and Vosges are aligning with this commercial dynamic to attract consumers.
Another exception: DROM-COM
This regional specificity is not isolated. In the DROM-COM also, sales dates vary depending on local conditions. In Guadeloupe, for example, they will begin on January 4, while on Reunion Island, it is the summer season which dictates the calendar with sales planned for February.
For fashionistas in the metropolis, this gap is a unique opportunity: a little detour to Lorraine can be synonymous with good deals a week before everyone else.
