Amorphis, pioneers of Finnish melancholy Progressive Metal, have announced that they have started recording their fifteenth studio album. This time, the band chose to collaborate with Danish producer Jacob Hansen, renowned for his work with bands such as Volbeat, Arch Enemy, and Katatonia.
A new direction with Jacob Hansen
In a social media post, Amorphis shared a photo from their recording session at Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark, along with the following message: “Greetings from windy Denmark! We are currently recording Amorphis' 15th studio album with Jacob Hansen as producer. This time we wanted to break our usual formula and explore new production nuances. Being here is inspiring, and the next few months will reveal how Amorphis will sound in 2025.”
Hansen, known for his two decades of expertise in sound engineering, has contributed to iconic albums for many artists in the Heavy Metal scene. This choice marks a significant change for Amorphis, who had collaborated with producer Jens Bogren on his last three albums, notably Halo released in 2022.
