It will undoubtedly be THE next project dedicated to the youth from Loudéac (Côtes-d’Armor). L'old station will welcome from here 2026 a brand new Youth Center.

Bringing this iconic building back to life

Before looking to the future, let's resituate the subject.

The town of Loudéac is experiencing a sharp increase in attendance at its leisure and youth centers.

“Since Covid, it’s very complicated to satisfy all the requests,” confirms Nadine Ollitraultdeputy mayor in charge of children and youth, in particular.

To the point of having divided the reception group of children from 3 to 11 years old.

We had too many people in the premises on rue Pasteur. For three years, it has only welcomed the youngest and the 7 to 11 year olds have been directed to Saint-Guillaume (which previously only welcomed them in the summer).

It is in 2020 that the City bought the station building, closed to the public since 2017. “It was an opportunity to recover an emblematic building of the district,” underlines the elected official.

Although different projects were mentioned, the project dedicated to youth quickly emerged in view of the needs.

In the future, the building will therefore house the Youth Center; the former premises of this will see the arrival of those aged 7 to 11.

1.6 million euros

For the moment, the phase of studies continues until May 2025. Then, you will have to go through a few steps to validate the project and award contracts to companies for the enormous project.

“We should launch the work at the end of 2025, for a opening estimated at fin 2026 », predicts Nadine Ollitrault.

Several construction sites

The first project, covering almost the entirety of the current ground floor, will provide a beautiful Youth Center, with a play area, office and meeting room. “The young people associated with the project preferred to take advantage of the station rather than the future extension.”
The left part of the existing building will see the development of a 40 m2 coworking room. “We will have to see how to articulate its use, but the idea will be to open it to people from the outside, to come and work there. Students or workers will be able to come and work there regularly, with access to the outside, different of that of the Youth Center “.

For an envelope of 1.6 million eurosthe City of Loudéac, is planning, strictly speaking, two projects.

Part rehabilitation of the old building and an extension, on the right of the building. With an expected subsidy envelope of up to 837 000 €.

The 200 m extension2 will offer a room called “multi-activity”, with a kitchen.

It will be used for various projects linked to youth, whether from the Maison des Jeunes, or in connection with other structures. Apart from opening during school holidays, we will see how we operate it the rest of the year.

A neighborhood that is evolving

Nadine Ollitrault presents this project in “a global reflection on the future of the neighborhood”.

The growth of this part of the City is revived. Around it, there was the renovation of the Café de la Gare, the Haras and the former Magasin Vert. Soon the two real estate projects of Terres d’Armor Habitat…

Without forgetting the multimodal exchange hub around the station building, also supported by the City, to rethink the coexistence of different means of transport.
