World Juniors: a less than encouraging start to the match for Canada

Canada did not at all reassure its fans at the World Junior Hockey Championship with a pair of gaffes in the first period of its important match against the Czechia on Thursday.

With heavy defeats against Latvia and the United States and unconvincing victories in the preliminary round, many observers agree that the Canadians are shaky.

The bad luck unfortunately continued in the first period of this quarter-final. The Czechs were able to return to the locker room with a 3-1 lead, and it was a bit thanks to their opponents.

The representatives of the European country scored the first goal after just 43 seconds, then Cole Beaudoin was expelled from the match for a clumsy knee strike against Petr Sikora. Watch in main video.

The Czechs took advantage of this five-minute numerical advantage to score again. Jakub Stancl missed his shot, which went over Carter George’s cage, but defenseman Sam Dickinson pushed the puck into his own net using his glove.

Sam Dickinson… scores in his own net –

In short, a period to forget for the young people of the maple leaf.
