“This hardworking and visionary dandy had shaken up the hotel and hotel catering industry with great talent, flair and high standards. I greatly appreciated him for his elegance, his finesse, his discretion. I also admired his immense curiosity, its very eclectic culture, its taste for the times and its work force”published journalist and gastronomic critic François-Régis Gaudry on his Instagram account.
Emmanuel Delavenne died in Paris on December 18 at the age of 49. He co-founded the Hôtel Amour in Nice and Paris. And “he was working on other inspired projects in the south of France”adds François-Régis Gaudry.
In 2006, Emmanuel Delavenne and Thierry Costes joined forces with the artist André Saraiva to create the Hôtel Amour in Paris. The place very quickly becomes trendy.
In 2015, a second address was opened, the Grand hôtel amour, still in Paris.
In 2019, they opened their third establishment in Nice: pastel tones, antique objects and touches of eroticism where each of the 38 rooms is decorated differently. Emmanuel Delavenne has brought together a unique collection of Vallauris ceramics and maritime objects at the Hôtel Amour.
“Emmanuel fumbles a lot”explained Mickaël Correia, director of the establishment when it opened. “He discovers, he poses, he looks. He doesn’t come up with something super square from the outset. Here, the design was done at the same time as the execution. Honestly, there are lots of things that are not finished. Because it hasn’t come out of his head yet. It’s great to work like that.
