Sun and snow aside, we will have almost everything in the Nord and Pas-de-Calais for the New Year. Rain, cold, but above all wind, especially on the coast. This also means that these two departments will be placed on yellow alert from this Tuesday evening and for the entire day of Wednesday January 1st.
The traditional New Year's baths in the North Sea will sting a little more than usual for the adventurous returning from New Year's Eve who have decided to start 2025 with a splash in 12° water. The Channel and North Sea maritime prefecture has published “a warning of severe gales” from 10 a.m. this Tuesday until 6 p.m. Wednesday. In a sector between the tip of Penmarc'h and the Belgian border, “gusts could reach up to 50/55 knots, or around 95/100 km/h”, predicts the prefecture.
After the wind, the drop in temperatures
Inland, according to Météo-France, gusts will also be felt, although to a lesser extent. Between 45 and 60 km/h from this Tuesday evening and up to 80 km/h, Wednesday evening in Cambrésis with temperatures not exceeding 11°.
Thursday, more wind and a timid return of the sun between the showers. Finally, on Friday, a clear improvement is expected, at least as far as the color of the sky is concerned. On the other hand, temperatures will plummet, between 3° and – 1°, and up to – 3° in the south of the Oise on Friday morning. We will have to wait until Saturday afternoon to see the mercury rise a little, at the cost of the sun disappearing.
