Following the malfunctions linked to the Paris-Briançon and Briançon-Paris night train during these Christmas holidays (a breakdown, a delay, a technical fire), the mayor of Briançon, Arnaud Murgia, sent a letter to the Minister of Transport , Philippe Tabarot. “This line is very popular with our vacationers and is full every evening in high season. I have also been asking for several years for its capacity to be increased, particularly during the tourist season. Unfortunately, with the numerous delays and repeated incidents, this line is not reliable. In September 2024, the regularity rate stood at only 46.2%, according to regularity statistics published by SNCF. It even won the prize for “worst line in France”. This is not acceptable.”
He continues: “The network is aging and there is an urgent need to replenish a fleet of night rolling stock […] I know I can count on your determination so that investments are quickly earmarked in favor of night trains. […] We must seize this opportunity of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to improve infrastructure and service.”
