In his garage in Imphy, Christian Bégo, 68, hides a treasure. A galleon that he created himself, from reclaimed wood and an old lawn tractor found in Leboncoin.
His passion for soap boxes was born with his brother, who took part in various races in the Cher. He first accompanied him as a pusher, before creating his own vehicle, so they could go shopping together. But Christian wanted to do things well: focus on originality rather than playing for the clock.
Mission accomplished. He has already won two cups for the singularity of his creation, on which he spent more than two months working. “It’s motivating,” he confides, proudly showing off his awards in the living room.
But what he likes above all, “It’s the atmosphere between the participants. It's friendly, we start to know each other well. And give people pleasure, get them out of their homes with entertainment all around, music, something to drink, to eat… People need it.” His best memory??
