Drama in Bethon: a young man stabbed to death near a nightclub
This Sunday, December 1, 2024, a festive evening turned into a tragedy near Cellier Saint-Vincent, a nightclub in Bethon, in the southwest of Marne. Around 6 a.m., an altercation in the parking lot of the establishment led to a violent stabbing. Two young men, aged 19 and 20, were stabbed.
A tragic death and another victim hospitalized
The 20-year-old young man, in cardio-respiratory arrest when emergency services arrived, died on the spot despite resuscitation attempts. The other victim, aged 19, was more lightly injured and transported urgently to Troyes hospital, where she was placed under observation.
The two victims are said to be from the Châlons-en-Champagne region. The events took place on the edge of the D48, in the immediate vicinity of the nightclub parking lot, without the origin of the fight having yet been determined.
An investigation mobilizing significant resources
Firefighters from Sézanne and Esternay, the SMUR from Sézanne and the gendarmerie forces were dispatched to the scene. The deputy prosecutor of Châlons-en-Champagne also went to the scene, accompanied by the Épernay research brigade, the Reims research section and criminal identification technicians from Châlons-en-Champagne.
A Volkswagen car, found in the parking lot with visible traces of blood, was placed under seal and evacuated in the afternoon. The victim's body was taken care of by the funeral directors around 12:30 p.m., while investigators continued their careful search, particularly in the surrounding vineyards.
Le Cellier Saint-Vincent, a place already in the spotlight
The nightclub, which can accommodate up to 700 people, had already made headlines during an event that occurred on New Year's Day 2023, giving rise to a trial in January 2024. This new tragic episode tarnishes the reputation of this night establishment.
