The signing of Luiz Felipe at OM does not mark the end of the winter transfer window in the Marseille city. At least three more transfers are hoped to delight Roberto De Zerbi and offer him the best possible squad.
Late Saturday afternoon, Olympique Marseille supporters learned to everyone's surprise of the imminent signing of Luiz Felipe. Free after the termination of his contract at Al-Ittihad, where he spent 18 months, the former player of Lazio Rome and Bétis Sevilla will strengthen Marseille's central defense even if according to L'Equipe, the Italian international will not will not be ready before the end of January. This reinforcement is still significant for Roberto De Zerbi, who wanted a right-handed central defender to compete with Balerdi in the center and Murillo as a right central defender.
This arrival does not, however, mark the end of the winter transfer window in the Marseille city. Pablo Longoria and Medhi Benatia are still at work making some adjustments. In total, three transfers could still see the light of day according to information from La Provence. Two departures are hoped for by January 31, those of Lilian Brassier, coveted by Rennes and Nice as well as Bamo Meïté, who is the subject of interest from lower ranking clubs such as Nantes and Montpellier. After the arrival of Luiz Felipe, the idea is clearly to get rid of several defenders to avoid congestion.
Two more starts and one arrival in defense?
Departures are all the more urgent as OM has not finished recruiting in defense since the regional daily affirms in its columns, Pablo Longoria still wants to recruit a versatile full-back (or piston). In this position, several names have leaked since the start of the transfer window: Danilo but also Nicola Zalewski. On Saturday, the La Tribune OM sur X account also explained that Marseille continued to discuss with two players whose identity was not filtered in this position. The winter transfer window therefore still has several surprises in store for the Olympian leaders and who knows, if the downsizing operation goes better than expected, Roberto De Zerbi will perhaps be entitled to one more reinforcement to properly celebrate the transition to the new year.
