Drinking water supply line

Quebec City announces the lifting of restrictions on the use of drinking water that have been in effect since June 26 in the territories of Quebec and L’Ancienne-Lorette.

Thus, all prohibited activities, such as watering, cleaning and filling swimming pools, are once again permitted throughout the territory.

“It is with relief that we are today lifting the restrictions on the use of drinking water which were due to end on July 5, six days earlier than the deadline initially planned. The success and speed of execution of the work are attributable not only to our teams, but also to the contribution of citizens. I would like to thank them once again for their efforts, which have made a real difference. » declared the mayor of Quebec, Mr. Bruno Marchand.

A breakage formally ruled out

The city formally ruled out a break in the 42-inch water supply line yesterday.

Water samples taken on June 28 and 29, 2024, made it possible to certify the quality of the water.

The City was thus able to put the pipe back into service on the evening of June 29.

The return to service of the pipeline also makes it possible to lift the recommendation to affected citizens not to consume cloudy and/or colored water.

According to the City of Quebec, the decrease in drinking water consumption was clearly and quickly observed after the ban was decreed. This made it possible to avoid episodes of cloudy water and to quickly put the pipeline back into operation.
