Thunderstorms: end of orange alert for Sunday: News

Sunday June 30 at 6 a.m., Météo-France updated its vigilance map. No department is on orange alert for thunderstorms on Sunday.

On Sunday morning, June 30, Météo-France updated its map of warnings: no more departments are affected by an orange warning for thunderstorms. The day before, 16 departments were affected from midnight to 3 a.m. Météo-France emphasizes that “a few moderate storm cells are still circulating near the Vosges” this Sunday, but the level of vigilance “can be lowered to yellow”. 18 departments are on yellow alert for floods or storms this Sunday.

Sunday is expected to be cooler and less stormy than the day before. Météo-France explains that “from the Grand-Est to Limousin and Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, the stormy residue from the day before lingers into the morning, and still gives rain, sometimes moderate in the North-East”. In the afternoon, the risk of thunderstorms persists in Rhône-Alpes and showers are “still possible” from the Grand-Est to the Massif Central. In the rest of the country, “the weather becomes variable, alternating clouds and clearings”.

Thunderstorms and hailstones on Saturday

According to the bulletin published Sunday morning by Météo-France, Saturday “in Yonne, a gust of 130 km/ha was recorded in Tonnerre” et “a gust of 107 km/ha was recorded in Troyes” in the Aube. In the Meuse“large hailstones were observed”. In the Tarn, hit by torrential storms on Saturday, it was noted “61 mm of precipitation in 1 hour in Dourgne (81), 56 mm in 1 hour in Montredon (81) and 66.6 mm in 3 hours at the same place”.
