“I think it is a great honor to welcome the Pope to Corsica”declared Catherine Vautrin, on the sidelines of a trip dedicated to the launch of the construction of the Ricanto power plant in Ajaccio, this Friday, November 22.

While the official confirmation of the Pope's visit to Corsica planned next December 15 slow to intervene, the event was therefore mentioned for the first time by a member of the government.

Asked about her presence during the visit of the sovereign pontiff, the Minister of Partnership with the Territories and Decentralization indicated: We will determine the elements, it's not still perfectly settled but it is not excluded that I am there.

Regarding the coming of members of the government, even the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron, the minister formulated the same response: “That hasn't been determined yet, so I don't have to tell you. But I repeat, nothing is ruled out at this point.”

During a press conference organized this Thursday, November 21, Cardinal Bustillo explained that he was waiting for the last “administrative adjustments”. According to our information, a document is missing which has not yet been signed by the Élysée and which would make it possible to definitively confirm the papal visit.

Here again, the minister remained evasive: Things will probably work out. It's in three weeks. I have no doubt that all this will happen very well, but I I'm not in charge of this file.”

According to Cardinal Bustillo, the officialization of the visit would only be a matter of hours. Celle-this could occur between this weekend and Monday.
