HOCKEY. Luke Woodworth, who was not selected at the National Hockey League (NHL) draft held on Saturday in Las Vegas, accepted an invitation from the Los Angeles Kings.

The captain of the Voltigeurs de Drummondville will participate in the development camp of the Californian organization, which will bring together the club’s best prospects in El Segundo, from Monday to Wednesday.

In his fourth season in the QMJHL, Luke Woodworth collected 62 points (21-41) in 62 games, forging a differential of +20. In 19 playoff games, the 19-year-old center collected 24 points (7-17), guiding the Voltigeurs to the Gilles-Courteau Trophy. At the Memorial Cup tournament, the Nova Scotian collected three points (1-2) in three games.

Luke Woodworth thus imitates his teammates Riley Mercer (Minnesota Wild) and Mikael Huchette (Vegas Golden Knights), who accepted a professional invitation earlier this month. For his part, defenseman Simon-Pier Brunet was drafted in the fourth round by the Buffalo Sabers on Saturday.
