Three local actors to storm the city of the popes. Tonight, around 10:15 p.m., the colors of the Manosquin scene will shine in Avignon, on the occasion of the Off Festival. Flag bearer of the department for this 58th edition: the troupe of the Théâtre le Lilas, the only representative of the Bas-Alpes. Mélanie Jourdan, Florian Bourin and Sabri Derradji present the play “The best is yet to come“, written by the latter, at the Comédie d’Avignon. A few hours before going on stage, the pressure is mounting. “We are very excited to get back on stage and play for the Festival Off a second time (first in 2021, Editor’s note),” rejoices Mélanie Jourdan. “It’s the biggest festival in the world, adds Sabri Derradji. We can’t wait to play it. A little stressed too, because there may be programmers in the room. We also have this objective of being the best ambassadors of the city of Manosque.”

“We had great feedback”

Starting this Saturday, the trio will begin a real marathon: 23 performances every evening until July 21. To keep up the distance and the pace of the festival, the three acolytes will have to dig deep into their reserves. “We arrived this Thursday and we were thrown straight into the thick of things with the displays and the rehearsals, says Melanie Jourdan. Avignon is very special because we lose the sense of temporality. In just a few hours, we lived maybe three whole days, so it’s very intense.” “We’ll have to save our energy throughout the festival”supports the one who is at the origin of the piece.
