Many exhibitions are planned from the gate to the courtyard of the priory. They will put visitors in the atmosphere of the medieval festival on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 July. And to facilitate the return from this stroll, a cart pulled by oxen will be available to visitors.

“Béhourd is a combat sport involving the use of weapons and armor from the Middle Ages”

But the main attraction will be Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Saint-Benoît-du-Sault college stadium. It will host a stage of the French béhourd championship, medieval team fights.

Nearly 200 fighters are registered, including ten men’s teams in league 1 and ten men’s teams in league 2. Three women’s teams will also participate: Les Hardies de Provence, Les Griffonnes d’Auvergne and Ténébris Bestia. “Behourd is a combat sport involving the use of weapons and armor from the Middle Ages,” says Michel Ménétrier, one of the organizers of this great medieval festival.

Saturday will also feature a free concert on the market square at 8 p.m., not to mention the stalls and street entertainment throughout the weekend. Note that a medieval troop has set up camp in the priory gardens. Visitors will be able to learn the basics of axe throwing, archery, catapult shooting or even try their hand at making chainmail.

Catering and raffle

Catering is available in the alleys of the city. A food truck will be set up on Saturday in the market square and on Sunday in the courtyard of the priory. A raffle is being set up with many prizes to be won. The profits from this game will be donated to the French Association for Esophageal Atresia (AFAO).

Large medieval festival, organized in Saint-Benoît-du-Sault, by the Américan Berry Custom 36 association and the municipality, Saturday July 6 and Sunday July 7. Free entry.
