Olympique Lyonnais have met Rennes four times in a Ligue 1 opening match. They have won three times, while SRFC have never won.

Last Friday, the Professional Football League unveiled the full calendar for the next Ligue 1. TheOL will start its season with a trip to Rennes. A match that is never easy in Brittany. However, one statistic will be able to reassure the Rhone supporters. Indeed, theOlympique Lyonnais won three of his four meetings against the Rennais Stadium during a first day in the elite of French football.

First, in 1972, Fleury’s teammates By Nallo had beaten the Bretons 3-1 at Gerland. Bernard Lacombe had scored twice. Then, during the 2000-2001 season, Jacques’ players Santini could not do better than a 2-2 draw, a point secured thanks to Sonny’s equaliser Anderson at the end of the meeting.

More recently, theOlympique Lyonnais went to win at Roazhon Park. On Saturday, August 11, 2012, Cris and his partners won 1-0 in Rennes. For the record, Alexandre Lacazette had been appointed, whileAnthony Lopes was on the bench. Finally, exactly 10 seasons ago, the Reds and Blacks were defeated 2-0 by the Rhone in Lyon, in a match where the center forward stood out with a goal from the penalty spot.

Thus, the confrontations between theOL and the SRFC during a first day of Ligue 1 have always worked in favor of the Lyonnais. Note that the current captain of the Pierre team Sage will be suspended and will therefore miss the trip to Rennes on the weekend of August 16.
