“This film music program is a way of thanking musicians who have been trampled by classical music throughout their career,” says Alexandre Tharaud. If film music is gradually making its entry into the programming of large concert halls and prestigious symphony orchestras, the multi-awarded musician intends to restore all of its nobility to the genre.
Drawing on his childhood memories, he revisits the famous melodies of composers of the 7th art: Ennio Morricone (Cinéma Paradiso, La Banquière), Vladimir Cosma (The Ace of Aces, The Tall Blond with a Black Shoe), John Williams ( Schindler’s List), Michel Legrand (Les Demoiselles de Rochefort, Summer 42), Claude Bolling (Borsalino), and many others.
“I wanted it to be accessible, to speak to everyone. It’s a comforting concert, which warms the heart, and which in a few notes of a well-known theme takes you into a whirlwind of memories and emotions,” announces the pianist.
