Whatever the result, “we had an incredible adventure,” immediately says Youena Baron, the communications manager at the Kenleur Confederation, based in Auray (56). The fact remains that the 40 young people from the Auray region, aged 6 to 23, who went to Alsace for the filming of the program “What will be the best folk dance in France?” ”, were excited. They had the pleasure of seeing behind the scenes of this televised regional dance and costume competition where ten troupes compete. And to participate in a unique experience that they will not soon forget.
Two minutes to convince
For the two previous editions, Kenleur had selected Eostiged ar Stangala from Quimper, then Quic en Groigne from Saint-Malo, each of whom had already distinguished themselves well in their own style. This time, television wanted to highlight groups of children. A great opportunity for dancers from the Auray region, on the occasion of their last tour with the creation “Dañsomp ar vro”. “The young people had two minutes to convince the jury and to advance to the final. Then there was a second performance of a minute and a half to present, to the extent that we found ourselves in the final with six other groups,” underlines Youena.
Unfailing motivation
“What was great was the motivation of everyone, young people, instructors, musicians, for this project. » It wasn't so easy to bring everyone together. We had to work on two pieces in a short time and make ourselves available, from November 5 to 8, 2024, in the middle of the school year, then design the artistic program.
“Between a very traditional aesthetic, with beautiful reconstructions of costumes, a couple of bell ringers, singing in the round, creative costumes, modern orchestration, less expected choreography, the creators were able to find the ideal balance for this kind of show, without betraying the DNA of the group. Étienne Chouzier has once again done wonders with two compositions, between emotion and ''begon'', performed by our musical dream team. »

For the scenography, the show usually offers landscape backgrounds representative of each region, but we did not want to fall into the clichés of lighthouses and seagulls… No choice for the first passage, for the sake of fairness with the other groups , but for the final, Aha Productions authorized, for the very first time, a specific video creation to be broadcast on the three giant screens.
“The Royal Palace of Kirrwiller (Bas-Rhin), the backstage, the dressing rooms, the stage, everything was incredible. The young people took part in the filming, in interviews, and met Cyril Féraud. We felt that the jury appreciated the originality of our performances. We have had very good feedback. It’s rewarding for the children. » There was a crazy atmosphere, meetings with other groups.
