Peugeot e-3008: when will the 680 km range version be launched?

For its new e-3008 electric SUV, Peugeot is focusing its communication on its future long-range version equipped with a 96 kWh battery. It must be said that with 680 km of WLTP range announced (pending final approval), it should make the e-3008 the most durable electric SUV in its category. The fact remains that the model catalog is currently content with a useful 73 kWh battery version (up to 527 km of WLTP autonomy) and that the 96 kWh pack is not about to show the end of its life. nose. French battery cells are long awaited

The Peugeot e-3008s currently being delivered are equipped with a battery with cells supplied by FinDreams Battery (FDB), a subsidiary of the Chinese giant BYD. The same is true for the e-3008’s big brother, the e-5008, which should eventually also offer a long-range version (up to 660 km of WLTP range, pending final approval).

But the Long Range version of the e-3008 and e-5008 will automatically be equipped with cells produced by ACC (Automotive Cells Company), which Stellantis then hopes to generalize on all versions. However, this joint venture between Stellantis, TotalEnergies and Mercedes-Benz is going through a difficult time; it was forced to suspend the construction of a battery factory in Germany and another in Italy. Fortunately, it is the third factory planned by ACC, that of Douvrin in France, already built, which will supply Peugeot’s electric SUVs.

ACC’s setbacks should therefore not affect the schedule for the Long Range versions of the Peugeot e-3008 and e-5008, Emmanuel Varène, product manager of the two models, told us. There was previously talk of a launch around February 2025 for their long-range version, but it could even be that they benefit from it “a little before”he hopes.

The switch to ACC cells for models equipped with the 73 kWh battery will take place later, at a date yet to be determined. They will only abandon BYD cells “when the volume of ACC production increases” will allow it. Priority is therefore given to the long-range version of the e-3008 and e-5008, which will be supplied exclusively by ACC.
