2024 NHL Draft Recap

In summary

The Ottawa Senators concluded the 2024 NHL Draft by selecting an equal number of forwards (Ellinas, Moore and Montgomery) and defensemen (Yakemchuk, Eliasson and Wallenius). The acquisition of these six players allowed the team to add players who are fast, physically strong, of good stature and skillful. At the end of the selection session, Senators associate general manager Ryan Bowness gave his impressions of how the weekend went.

“Seeing the joy on our team’s faces when we were able to get our hands on some of the players we wanted, and seeing how excited they were, that’s what makes it all worth it. For them, the last two days are the most important time of their year. This is what they’ve worked for all year, so to see it all come to fruition like it did today is amazing.”

The NHL Draft will not be the only highlight of the week as the opening of the NHL free agent market will take place this Monday 1is July, then the Senators development camp will follow the next day.

“We’re going to be back in the office tomorrow morning getting ready for a big day on Monday,” Bowness said. “The plan is to be very busy and active over the next few days.”
