The Jean-Marie Daureu museum dedicated to firefighters has just been inaugurated. It houses many emergency vehicles, some of which are very old.

After several years, the Jean-Marie Daureu museum was inaugurated in the presence of the mayor of Tarbes Gérard Trémège, Ms. Lorena Orduna, mayor of Huesca, Mr. Kevin Lenz, first deputy of the town hall of Altenkirchen.

“40 years ago, Jean-Marie Daureu created this association with a group of friends,” says the museum’s president Jean-Luc Chassin. “A volunteer firefighter and lover of your job, you wanted to allow the city to maintain a “firefighter” heritage. In order to gather this heritage, you searched for and unearthed machines, hand pumps, work and ceremonial outfits, helmets and more. You undertook historical research through documents and archives. You didn’t spare yourself and we thank you for it. Thanks to you, Jean-Marie, we now have a real treasure shared with the people of Tarbes. But rest assured, the next generation is here. Over the years, your heirs have done everything to enrich this treasure and we are proud to present the Jean-Marie Daureu museum to you.”

Jean-Marie Daureu has now officially entered the history of Tarbes.

But that’s not all. This inauguration was also an opportunity to present the museum’s exhibition space.

A place with video reports, collections of small fire engines, manuals, badges and others. A new place to extend your visit to the museum.

A certain joy for the friends of the Jean-Marie Daureu museum and a beautiful tribute for the late founder of this museum.
