After some uncertainty in the ranks of Nadia Faveris’ team, which came in behind the outgoing LR MP by 147 votes, the NFP pulled itself together and sent out a press release clearly calling for a blockade of the RN.

The press release was drawn up with all the representatives of the New Popular Front of Dreux, during the night of Sunday 30 June to Monday 1 July, and was published on Nadia Faveris’ social media. The campaign team of the socialist candidate for the NFP in Dreux takes an unambiguous position in the face of an impressive score for the RN in the Dreux constituency.

“In accordance with my values and the commitments of the New Popular Front, I have decided to withdraw and not to run in the second round in order to block the National Rally.”

Nadia Faveris (candidate NFP)

With 25.59% of the vote, the candidate was able to maintain herself in a three-way race. But, with the RN at 38.32%, there was a great risk of seeing Olivier Dubois take the seat of Olivier Marleix who received 25.93% of the vote. In this same press release approved by the PS, the PC, LFI and EE-LV, Nadia Faveris clearly invites people to choose the outgoing MP on Sunday, July 7, 2024.

“Next Sunday, I will vote for the only candidate in the running who will prevent the victory of the extreme right in the second constituency. No vote must be missing to ensure the republican values that we defend win.”

Nadia Faveris (empty)

A press release which definitively puts an end to the hesitations of Sunday evening when certain NFP activists spoke of recounting the votes in the face of a small difference between the LR candidate and Nadia Faveris. But, which is part of the logic of the national instructions of the left-wing parties, the wind is rising against the RN.

The choice of left and right voters… Together

This is also the decision that Olivier Marleix’s camp was feverishly awaiting on Sunday evening at the outgoing MP’s office in Dreux. They are reassured, they have one week left to win the votes, if not the hearts, of left-wing voters and also count on the rallying of voters for the Horizons pour Ensemble candidate who still got a little over 7% of the vote. Votes that Olivier Marleix lacked to widen the gap with the left and gain a few points to catch up with the RN.
