The Minister of the Interior announced on Friday, June 28, that he would request the dissolution of the association organizing the “Foreigners Out” evening in Rouen.

The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, announced this Friday, June 28, that he was going to request the dissolution of the association organizing the xenophobic evening called “Ausländer raus” (“Foreigners outside” in French) planned for this evening in a bar in Rouen, Mora.

“We are going to involve the investigation services of the Ministry of the Interior,” he declared on -. “A dissolution can take several weeks,” he added.

This decision by the tenant of Place Beauvau comes after a request for dissolution made on Monday, June 24, by the mayor of Rouen, Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol. The elected official issued a municipal decree to prohibit this gathering.

“I have contacted the prosecutor, the prefect and will take my responsibilities. Racism and xenophobia are the hallmarks of the extreme right. They have no place in the Republic,” he wrote on X. In response to this ban, the association’s lawyers filed an interim relief application to suspend the decision.

The tension still present

Despite the suspension of the evening and this desire for dissolution, the authorities fear excesses this Friday evening. The prefect of Seine-Maritime published, this Thursday, June 27, a decree aimed at prohibiting “all demonstrations” on public roads within a “circumscribed perimeter”, close to the bar.

The prefecture suspects the organizers of “maintaining” their event. Several groups are calling for mobilization to oppose the holding of this evening. A situation allowing the prefect to identify “risks of disturbances to public order and clashes between antagonistic demonstrators on the public highway.”
