The commune of Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon is delighted to announce the official launch of the new tourist season, which will begin on July 2, 2024. This festive event will mark the start of a summer rich in discoveries and activities, in a exceptional natural setting in the heart of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.
Located in the heart of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, our charming town took advantage of the winter months to renew itself and offer its visitors an unforgettable experience. With the implementation of numerous improvement projects in order to fully reveal the many attractions of the village and a program of varied activities, the town of Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon is ready to welcome tourists in optimal conditions.
A new brand for Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon
Today, the ambition of Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon is to become a real territorial brand capable of attracting a greater proportion of the tourists who visit the region. The municipality is therefore proud to present today its new brand “ Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon, the art of the moment », the result of several participatory workshops with residents which made it possible to define a new prism of identity for the village. This initiative aims to strengthen the identity of Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon and promote its tourist attractiveness.
We have worked tirelessly to make Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon a leading tourist destination. Our efforts aim not only to improve the quality of life of our residents, but also to strengthen the attractiveness of our territory. Redevelopment works and improvements
In less than a year, the municipality of Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon has undertaken major works to beautify and modernize the town and fully reveal its heritage. A real race against time to be ready for the tourist season and a bet won !
Here are some main achievements:
- Renovation of the banks of the lake: The banks of the lake have been renovated with significant landscaping, the installation of a bandstand, an orientation table and light displays, thus offering a breathtaking view of the lake of Sainte-Croix and welcoming and fun facilities. The car parks “ wild » have been adapted and rationalized.
- Improving the path within the village: A new crossroads at the entrance to the village has been created with a footpath to connect the Castellas district to the village. As an extension of the redevelopment of the crossroads and the entrance to the village, the department’s services will create a pedestrian and cycle path. The main street of the village (Rue du Cours) will also become pedestrian from 1is May to September 30. This experience is accompanied by the installation of terraces for shops and restaurants.
- Modernization of tourist facilities: Reception infrastructure, parking and motorhome areas, have been modernized to meet the needs of visitors. A new motorhome area has also been created, thus doubling the existing offer in order to satisfy the numerous demands in this area. A new bowling alley has been built. In the campsite, significant riprap made it possible to stabilize a toilet block and a mobile home purchase campaign was launched to complete the existing offer.
Program of activities and events
For this new season, the town of Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon offers a rich program of activities and events for all tastes and all ages:
- Water Activities: Enjoy our beautiful lake with activities such as kayaking, paddle boarding, sailing and swimming. Classes and equipment rentals are available on site.
- Hiking and excursions: Explore the scenic trails with guided hikes, mountain bike tours and wildlife tours. Discover the village with guided tours offered by the tourist office.
- Local markets and fairs: Every week, the town hosts several markets offering fresh local products, crafts and culinary specialties.
- Producers’ markets: every Tuesday morning, from July 2 to August 27 at the old camper van area in the village.
- Gourmet markets: Tuesday evenings July 16 and August 13 (6:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m.). World cuisine food trucks, craft beer from Riez, on the old motorhome area in the village.
- Craft markets: Tuesday evenings July 9 and 23 and August 6 and 20 (6:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.). With the presence of creators and artisans from the PACA region. Rue du Cours.
- Creation of a bowling alley: allée des chestnut trees, which hosts pétanque competitions every Friday evening at 6 p.m. and the new Castellas bowling alley.
- Cultural events: Don’t miss our cultural evenings with open-air concerts, dance performances, open-air film screenings and artistic exhibitions.
- Relaxation activities and entertainment: Take part in yoga classes, pétanque competitions, and activities for children supervised by professionals.
