The armed suspect who was traveling in the Natashquan sector was arrested by the Sûreté du Québec. The incident caused no injuries.

The police operation which led to his arrest caused the closure of the section of Route 138 between Kegaska and Pointe-Parent. The road is in the process of being reopened, according to the SQ.

During the operation, the Sûreté du Québec asked residents to stay in their homes, lock their doors, move away from windows, and leave the area if it was safe to do so.

An investigation has been opened to shed light on the events.

The cargo-passenger Bella-Desgagnés, which was to leave at 6:30 p.m. from Kegaska to the Lower North Shore, was delayed due to the road closure. The ship will leave as soon as all its passengers are finally on board, confirms the CEO of Relais-Nordik, André Mikhael.
