The Marathon des mots celebrates its 20th edition this year. The event is one of the very first creative literary events in France and Europe. Its objective is to make you want to read.

The festival, which began on Tuesday, offers no fewer than 130 literary and cultural events over six days in Toulouse, its metropolis, and throughout the Occitanie region. In Colomiers, the event will be held on Friday, in two stages.

First, at the Henri Molina White Pavilion, at 6:30 p.m., where the public is invited to attend a literary performance between Jack London’s masterpiece Martin Eden, a boxing actress and a lyric singer.

The artist Louise Tardif and the PFFF collective offer a journey through Martin Eden, a masterful text on the destiny of this young 20-year-old sailor who crosses the worlds, from the proletariat to high society in an immense battle of bodies and blade.

At 8:30 p.m., at the La Préface bookstore, the author of the book “The Third Continent”, Ivan Jablonka, will come to meet the public. Stories, biographies, reports, diaries, all these writings about reality make up another literature, driven by the desire to understand. They are structured by the social sciences, which also have a literary dimension. It is from this “Third Continent” that Ivan Jablonka, the author of Laëtitia, winner of the 2016 Medici Prize, claims to belong.

A rich hour of meeting. Both sessions are free with limited places.
