With Dido and Aeneas, Purcell tells us about the love and farewell of two mythical lovers: fleeing Troy, Aeneas lands in Carthage and falls in love with Queen Dido. But Witches and Spirits put an end to the idyll, pushing Aeneas to return to sea to found Rome. Abandoned, Dido dies of grief in an unforgettable lament. It is the majestic Sonya Yoncheva who plays this emblematic role of seduction and spite, in the swirling and fantastic production of Cécile Roussat and Julien Lubek who mix mime, dance and acrobatics in a magical scenography. The brilliant young soloists of the Royal Opera Academy dive with joy into this marvelous show!
