Paris 2024 Olympics: discover the medal presenters’ outfits and the trays they will carry

We now know a little more about what the medal ceremonies will look like at the Paris Olympics. This Tuesday, the outfits that the volunteers who will congratulate the medalists will wear were revealed, as well as the trays they will carry. New items created by LVMH, premium partner of the Olympics and owner of Le Parisien – Aujourd’hui en France, for the outfits and by Louis Vuitton for the trays.

In creating these outfits, LVMH wanted to pay homage to the silhouettes of the 1920s, in a way that gave a nod to the last Olympic Games held in Paris in 1924. A decade “marked by the birth of sportswear, the affirmation of feminism and the appearance of the first unisex styles,” says the French brand.

These outfits, “which resonate with the history of France and its cultural and societal heritage,” will be worn by 515 volunteers, men and women aged 18 to 21 from sports federations across the country. “These pieces emphasize fluidity and freedom of movement,” LVMH explains. Presenters will wear this unisex outfit, consisting of a white polo shirt, loose beige pants and a white newsboy cap.

Antoine Arnault (right), son of Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, and Tony Estanguet, president of the Olympic organizing committee, presented the outfit that the medal presenters will wear.

These 600 outfits were 100% eco-designed via LVMH Circularity’s closed-loop recycling channel. The polo shirt and the gavroche are made from recycled materials from the workshops of LVMH Group houses, revalued by a French start-up. The pants are cut from a polywool fabric made from recycled polyester.

The polo shirts are also designed in the Vosges by the Duval family business and the trousers are produced by Nomade, an association with which LVMH formed a partnership in 2019. The gavroches are produced in Italy. LVMH indicates that “all the outfits will be donated to the presenters” at the end of the Paris Games.

The trays were made by Louis Vuitton.

These presenters will carry the medals on a tray made by Louis Vuitton in its workshop in Beaulieu-sur-Layon (Maine-et-Loire). The brand’s historic Damier will feature the tray’s canvas in black and brown. Their interior will be covered in matte black leather and will be able to hold between two and six medals.

“These ceremonies are very strong moments in the athletes’ lives, both of consecration, communion with the public and pride in their country. Absolutely unique, they deserve to be magnified,” enthuses the president of the Olympic Games organizing committee Tony Estanguet.
