The Integrated University Health and Social Services Center of Mauricie-et-du-Centre-du-Québec (CIUSSS MCQ) has confirmed that at this time, according to their assessment, it could be a month before the resumption of all activities. However, we are not yet able to assess the extent of the damage and the amount of the bill.

“We are awaiting the report from the external firm hired to carry out this evaluation,” notes the organization.

While the volume of surgeries in La Tuque is usually four to five per week, a temporary procedure has been put in place to remedy the situation.

The operating room team, which brings together around ten employees, still remains in place, confirms the CIUSSS MCQ, to “reorganize clinical activities and continue other activities in this sector (minor surgeries, gynecology, ENT, etc.) »

As for surgeries, the CIUSSS MCQ is currently working on planning some at a later date “considering that we are within the recommended time frames”, but also on directing certain patients towards Shawinigan or Trois-Rivières according to the usual corridors for the surgeries that need to be performed.

We remind you that for any surgery linked to a vital emergency, a room has been set up as a emergency room to take care of the patient at the La Tuque hospital.

Remember that the water damage also affected the archives and the laundry room. The sprinkler system has been restored since the incident and is now operational again.

In the City of La Tuque, although we would have preferred not to have to endure this unforeseen situation which led to the closure of the operating room, we indicate that we are satisfied with the measures put in place by the CIUSSS.
