Born in Assé-le-Boisne, November 30, 1909of a seamstress mother and a messenger father. René Brossard was a member of a Resistance network in Orne. He participated in the supply, transport of weapons and ensured liaisons.

The Sarthois was arrested in Assé-le-Boisne on April 24, 1944 and imprisoned in Alençon. After being sentenced to death by the German military tribunal, he was shot on Thursday June 22, 1944, at 5 p.m., in the Gallochère quarry. in Condé-sur-Sarthe at the age of 35.

Today he is one of those obscure but essential players in the movement.
