Steve Jobs’ wardrobe on sale (but not on sale)

Auctions of products linked to Steve Jobs never fail to raise interest. Here is a somewhat special sale today, of old clothing worn by the ex-CEO and co-founder of Apple.

Who wants to treat themselves to Steve Jobs’ wardrobe?

There we find in particular a small piece of the advertising history of Cupertino, with the famous black pinstriped suit, which was used to promote the 1984 Macintosh. As a bonus, the lot includes a vintage pin found in the jacket pocket, and the original wooden hanger. The sale price was set at $10,000 but should bring in around $30,000.

For those who would be tempted by other pieces of clothing, there is also a suit DiMitri Couture, a little less media-friendly, which would have been worn for a retirement party. Or two ties: one in the brand’s slate blue Wilkes Bashford San Francisco worn during a photo shoot in the 1980s. The other in brown silk is a Ralph Lauren worn for a 1977 Apple-II release photo. Each is valued at approximately $2,000.

Almost $220,000 for sandals…

Products and other objects linked to Steve Jobs are indeed good deals for sales rooms. We remember, in particular, his slightly worn sandals which after a struggle that one imagines epic, found a buyer for 218,750 dollars, during an auction offered by Julien’s Auctions! Such a sum was actually spent on these old tatanes this unique collector’s item. We suspected it a little but the house nevertheless clarified that this sum constitutes a record for a pair of sandals put up for auction.

A record to beat!

let’s remember that the starting price was already substantial, i.e. $15,000, but the estimate was just as high, since the objective was between $60,000 and $80,000. For this tidy sum, the buyer (whose identity remains secret) becomes the happy owner of this object with a few goodies. The lot indeed includes an -NFT- image, a 360-degree digital representation of Birkenstock sandals personally owned and worn by Steve Jobs. With the shoes, The purchaser is also entitled to a hard case for storage and transport.

In order to attract collectors, Julien’s Auctions did not hesitate to cite Chrisann Brennan, Steve Jobs’ first partner and mother of Lisa Brennan-Jobs. The latter indeed indicated that sandals were part of her simple side. It was his uniform. And the advantage of the uniform is that you don’t have to worry about what to wear in the morning. He would never do or buy anything just to stand out from others. He was simply convinced of the cleverness and practicality of the design and the comfort of wearing it. And with Birkenstocks, he didn’t feel like a businessman, so he had the freedom to think creatively.

But if you have fallen under its spell, note that this legendary model is still on sale, new and at a much more affordable price around 80 euros!
