Mainvilliers. A citizen action for a clean and healthy neighborhood. The waste collection operation initiated by the association Reconstruire ensemble, in the Tallemont-Bretagne district, in Mainvilliers, brought together around thirty participants on Friday, the majority of whom were young people. In just one hour, the volunteers collected 29.2 kg of waste. Several collection groups were formed in a mixed manner, mixing young people and adult referents, to cover a large area.
This is the first time that Reconstruire ensemble has relaunched this initiative since the Covid-19 pandemic. “It had been at least two years since this activity took place,” explains Émilie Delavaux, head of the association’s citizen division.
The idea is to involve as many residents as possible and to strengthen social cohesion around urban cleanliness. It is also in recognition of the work of the cleaning agents, who are present on a daily basis. This action should take place twice a year.
Raising awareness about waste management
Supported by local partners such as Habitat Eurélien, the CSE Jules-Vernes, the specialized prevention of Adsea 28, the citizens’ council and the City, it aims to clean public spaces, but also to raise awareness among residents about waste management. “The idea would be to extend these actions by raising awareness about selective sorting,” continues the manager, who hopes “that these citizen actions will raise awareness and encourage residents to get involved in their neighborhood.”
