The Mille Univers association has joined forces with PEP 18, as part of the 2024 cultural Olympics. A book will be created by students with disabilities.

The Mille Univers association welcomed a group of young people with disabilities to its workshop last week for the Dear(s) sportspeople project, as part of the 2024 cultural Olympics. Nineteen students from the Ulis class (localized unit for educational inclusion) from the Auron school in Bourges, and the IME of Saint-Amand-Montrond, are participating in the creation of a book around the sporting event of the year, the Olympic Games .

Editorial work

“The idea of the project is to combine sport and culture. Since last September, students have gone to sports facilities to learn about sport, but also to take photos, with the aim of creating a book, where texts and images will mix,” says Daniel Pissondes, PEP 18 referent. . A work carried out with the support of photographer Yannick Pirot. “It was a very interesting project, I was able to explain to them some techniques to take better photos. I really like this exchange with young people. »

And once everything was in the box, the editorial part began with the Mille Universes. The young people participated in an editorial session. “They will make all the choices themselves, the paper we will use, the format of the book, the graphic choices. We are here to give them the tools, but they are the designers,” explains Frédéric Terrier, president of the association.

The students also participated in several workshops, to explain paper making, but also in plastic arts projects, always linked to sport. The book will be finished in September, and exhibited, like the photos, in Aubigny-sur-Nère. “We then hope to exhibit in the establishments that received us, and the towns of Cher with the Terre de Jeux 2024 label,” adds Daniel Pissondes.
