The day after the resounding announcement of the dissolution of The national assemblyoutgoing MP Marietta Karamanli announced that she would be a candidate again for the legislative elections.

The one who sat within the Socialists and Allies group was invested to carry the banner of New Popular Front.

What priorities?

“Your priorities are mine. » This is the slogan that the candidate’s official leaflets display. But what are they? The outgoing MP defends the repeal of the pension reform and the unemployment insurance law, wants a reduction in energy taxes and even the establishment of an ISF (wealth tax) modernized.

Reviving housing, instituting real community policing, stopping class closures and placing emphasis on the training of doctors are among its other cardinal lines.

“We must listen to our fellow citizens: that’s how we have concrete solutions to carry fights,” she emphasizes. “Many people cannot find jobs, public services, doctors…”

“Blocking the far right”

What motivated her to leave? “We must stop this nightmare of the extreme right,” supports Marietta Karamanli. The one who compares Emmanuel Macron to “Nero who sees Rome burning” insists on the responsibility of “blocking” the National Rally.

We don’t want to give the keys to the FN because he will never give them back. This is unimaginable for the Republic.

“To say that we haven’t tried them is false. They voted against the increase in the minimum wage, against all the progress we are making,” denounces Marietta Karamanli.

“What brings us together is more important than what divides us”

Elected under the Nupes label in the 2022 elections, Marietta Karamanli advocates the union of the left. “I’ve been hearing on the markets for a long time: when are you tying the knot? »

Who are Marietta Karamanli and Yves-Marie Hervé?

Marietta Karamanli is 59 years old and has four children. She was elected as a member of parliament four times. In 2022, she obtained 63.06% of the votes against Angéline Furet, RN candidate.
Yves-Marie Hervé is mayor of Changé. He was already Marietta Karamanli’s deputy in 2022. Aged 61, he is director of a real estate company with a social vocation.

As we saw on the Jacobins market last week, while some are satisfied with this union, others criticize the alliance with La France Insoumise.

What unites us is more important than what divides us. We will take care of mobilizing and remembering what brings us together. On the left, we will have to answer to demons but we have a message of freedom and democracy.

“Macron has fragmented the country. What motivates me is the desire to reconnect people and I want a government that cares about the French. Let’s hope that the left puts the table back on its feet. »

The outgoing MP defends the search for consensus within the left forces. “Talking to each other means finding solutions. History is watching us: it is important to write this common history with citizens. »
