For Illac captain, Gauthier Bonnefoy, this first round of the Coupe de France against Sète, 7th in Ligue A, will be neither a gala match nor good preparation for the rest of the championship. “Sète is stronger than us on paper because it plays in a higher division but we want to do things well because it’s a meeting that matters to us,” he explains. He hopes that the experience he had in League A last season will be beneficial: “We managed not to have an inferiority complex. We knew we were below all season, but we tried our luck every time. However, I still have a few good friends among the players that I sincerely appreciate and with whom I play at the beach in the summer. But with the staff and the managers, we are very far apart.
