TDF. Tour de France – Profile of the 4th stage, with the Galibier to find out more

Already the first mountain stage of the Tour de France ! On Tuesday, for their entry into France after a final departure from Italy, in Pinerolo, the riders of the Big loop will be in the Alps and will face three real passes. The endless and rolling climb of Sestriere will open the show, then the Montgenèvre pass will present itself under the wheels of the riders. At the top of the latter, we will then be halfway, and after a long valley, one of the giants of the Tour will be climbed: the Galibier pass!

Cédric Vasseur discusses this 4th stage for Cyclism’-

Will Jonas Vingegaard be able to do in Galibier what he was able to do in San Luca?

Approached from the Lautaret side, which is the least difficult, it is nonetheless formidable, and the last 8 steeper kilometers combined with the altitude (2,642 meters) will certainly create gaps between the riders in the general classification, who will also have to negotiate the rapid descent towards Valloire, where the finish of this 4th stage will be judged, around twenty kilometers after the summit of Galibier. The first very big fight between the big guns should therefore take place on Tuesday, and we are waiting with great impatience to find out if Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) will have the means, as in the climb of San Luca on Sunday, to keep up the frenetic pace that Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) is sure to print at some point.
